  • Wildflowers in July around Ptarmigan Cirque and Highwood Pass
  • Peak hiking season for Rawson Lake, Ha Ling, and Baldy Pass
  • Golden larch viewing in late September at Ptarmigan Cirque and Rawson Lake

Winter visits are beautiful but require caution. Many trails become icy or are right in avalanche territory, and Highwood Pass is closed from December to June. Kananaskis Village, Troll Falls, and the lakes remain accessible but you’ll need proper footwear and warm layers.

Travel Tips

  • Cell coverage is limited. Download maps before you go.
  • Bears and wildlife are common. Carry bear spray and give animals plenty of space.

  • Some areas, especially Highwood Pass, close seasonally. Check road and trail conditions at the Visitor Centre.
